Maine is wild and beautiful. The southern coast is full of beautiful beaches, and further down east is the famous Acadia national park. The northern part of Maine has plenty of uninhabited areas with lots of woods and lush green nature.The seasons in the New England area are long and well defined, with long rainy periods. There is no best time to visit Maine, though the busiest tourist season in some areas tends to be summer. One should expect to pay premium rates at hotels and restaurants.

Fall in Maine?as in the other three New England states?is one of the finest spectacles in all of the United States, with the hills full of red and orange foliage. It is a very popular time to travel, with bus tours flocking like wild birds. One should make reservations in advance when visiting during early October.Winter brings about tourism in the ski resorts, especially during the school vacation days. This is when the rates of hotels on and around the slopes are the highest.
